It’s quite possible that as studioCAPTURE’s album designer extraordinaire (ahem…blush, blush) I spend just as much time photographing finished albums as I do designing them. I love getting finished albums in and pulling them out of their velvety bag. It’s like unwrapping a present. It’s not mine. Half of the time I’ve never even met the couple. But after hours of sorting through their wedding images, editing, and designing their album I feel like I know them. I know every last detail about the bride’s dress, the the decor, the wedding party, who drank a little too much at the reception, who cried the most… It’s like I was there even if it’s not a wedding I helped shoot. Gary and Monica’s big day is a story that stands out in my mind. I love this wedding album. The acrylic cover looks absolutely amazing! The detail shot of them holding hands was perfect for it. What a gorgeous wedding at The Crystal Ballroom. Enjoy…

I am beginning to think that I sometimes get more excited about getting albums in than some of our clients… especially when then end up looking as good as this one. Just a simple 20 page engagement album, but man! It looks amazing! I suggested that Shane and Lyndsay have several spreads printed on metallic paper to enhance the colors and make the detail shots really pop. Normally I’m not a huge fan of printing every page on metallic paper. I think it has its purpose but on select images. The blend of luster and metallic spreads throughout an album has a nice effect. We were able to get some amazing reflective shots through glass doors and windows during this engagement shoot at The Flying Saucer. Even the ring shot reflects of the table nicely. Perfect for metallic spreads! Hopefully, Shane and Lyndsay will be equally as enthusiastic about their album as I am!
I was so excited about sorting through and editing Josh and Rebecca’s wedding last week. I love weddings at Briscoe Manor. It is such a pretty venue. Everything from their bride’s prep room to their groom’s game room, their outdoor gazebo to their beautiful chapel, and of course their gorgeous ballroom makes for breathtaking photo opportunities. We were able to get some really great shots, and I couldn’t wait to get my favorites edited and posted ahead of schedule for Josh and Rebecca to see.
…But in a technology-reliant profession such as photography, when does anything ever go according to plan?! Last Tuesday when I arrived at the studio to put the final touches on their edits I came to realize that a faulty external drive had fried my motherboard. Doh! Luckily, I didn’t lose any of the work I had already finished, but unfortunately, I had to wait for a new part to arrive in the mail to finish editing the wedding. So to Josh and Rebecca, I apologize for the delay! I know you were just as excited to see your images as I was to edit them! What an absolutely beautiful wedding!
Bridal sessions are so bittersweet here at studioCAPURE. Sweet because we get to see the bride in her gown for the first time. Her makeup perfect. Hair sprayed into place. They always beam with excitement because it’s the first time they’ve worn their gown outside the bridal boutique. With the addition of the jewelry, the shoes, the bouquet, and the veil it’s really their first preview of what they will look like on their wedding day… like playing dress up as a kid, only it’s the real deal. Bitter because after sorting through all the session images and picking our favorites we can’t post them until after the wedding! Wouldn’t want to ruin that surprise for the groom and everyone else. As you can see from the golden trees in the background of some of the images, these were taken back in November. However, Josh and Rebecca’s wedding at Briscoe Manor wasn’t until just a few weeks ago. Now that their wedding images are edited I decided it was time to share with the world what a lovely bride Mrs. Rebecca Shepherd is…
